traded for a new Case IH 527 B ecolo tiger disk ripper and the dealer said the 7140 will pull it but it is recommended to take 140 to 180 hp is all it says. I do not have a brochure and just wondering if anyone knew the hp specs of the 7140. Tractor data. com does not
Drawbar hp on a stock 7140 is 170. We have a 527b and a 7130 that will run with any 7140. It has all kinds of power but the subsoiler will stop it in its tracks. Tires just spin if u run it down where it belongs. I have been looking for a small 4wd to pull it instead. Nice tool just need a lot of traction. We have heavy clay around here.
I think the reason I feel the 7140 is kind of doggy is it seemed like the 7110 aka "baby" seemed like it would pull anything the 40 would but just a little easier. Took it to case ih last spring and it pulled 230 easy. A quick call to the diesel shop man and he came out there and turned it back to 170 for us and. He said that it was turned up all the way it would go. That tractor came out of the Texas cotton fields and I got it in 2006 and have put nearly 5000 hours on it but never really pulled it hard. The funny thing is that tractor hardly smoked a bit when it was pulling 230 on the dyno. Had 9000 hours when I got it and now has 4700 on the 2nd time around. Good engine uses no oil. Those have got to be tough tractors but the 40 weighs more has wheel weights but no water in the tires.
Last year after I bought my 7140 2wd I went out and pulled the 38' Case IH field cultivator that I pull with the ST270 Steiger up in the yard to work on it before planting started. When I finished working on it I went out and put it in the ground just to see what the 7140 had. On level ground the 7140 pulled the digger just as easy as the Steiger. Going up hill I never ran out of power but did run out of traction. This 7140 has some smoke under the hood.
Hagen, If it ran fine and has went this long why did you turn it down? Our 8930 has 10000 and been at 220-240 for 5500 of it. Started at 182. Was to slow chopping with a processor and 3 row....like 2 mph! In my opinion set at 230 is prob OK for a 7110, esp if it had never had issues. BUT it is your unit. Maybe give it a round or 2 and if it can't have the 7140 set to 230. I am surprised the 7110 ran cool. No Inner cooler and that much power generally equal heat. How wide is a Ecotill thing? We bum the FIL's 7 shank CIH 14 Ripper and it's all she's got in the heavy ground we rip. To deep she'll spin. He has a 8400 with more wt and the long wheel base that really does fine on it. 781b155fdc
